Some More Fatburger

Recently Groupon used one of my reviews for a Fatburger offering.  As a reward I was given $25 Groupon bucks to use on any deal I wanted.  I ended up choosing to use it on the featured Fatburger deal so I could try some of their specialty burgers so I hit up the West Broadway location for a change of scenery.

First up we have the King Burger Supreme.  It’s a 1/2 lb patty made with AAA Angus beef (not such a big thing to me seeing Angus Beef is just a branding term and doesn’t mean anything to do with quality), double cheese, mayo, mustard and ketchup, relish, sliced onion, tomatoes and deli pickles.

As you can see it’s a big burger and fit for anyone with a big appetite.  The bun they use for this burger is a specialty bun, because of this, if they don’t sell a lot of these in a week you do stand the chance of getting a dry one if they haven’t been freshly shipped in-mine was dry let’s just say.  The meat was flavorful and not as greasy as the other burgers I’ve had before from Fatburger.  Toppings wise things were OK for being very “typical”.  The nice touch was the pickles, they were not “rounds” and were lengthwise slices with a thick cut to them.

Next is something that is a special right now for them-a Rib eye “Philly” Cheese Steak with Gravy Fries.  Toppings wise this comes with mayo, mustard, sliced onions and cheese.

I ended up getting the mayo and mustard on mine at the recommendation of the Manager, I personally didn’t like the mustard and it took away from the flavor of the meat.  The rib eye itself was sliced really thin and was tender and the onions were fried nicely.  The hoagie roll it was on was OK but I found the bread to be on the salty side for some strange reason.  The cheese I’m on the fence about-I liked the gooey factor of it but it had no flavor.

For the side the combo comes with Gravy Fries.  These were over kill in the sodium department.  I’ve never had the gravy from Fatburger before and all I can say is that I didn’t like it at all, If your going to have the combo I’d recommend skipping the gravy and salt bomb it packs.  My fries themselves were crisp and delish on their own.

Lastly, and my favorite we have the Californian Burger.  Topped with maple bacon, guacamole, lettuce and tomato then capped off with double pepperjack cheese.  This was my favorite burger by far, in fact it’s the best I’ve had at Fatburger so far.  The combination of ingredients were perfect, the guacamole was extremely flavorful and fresh, the bacon added the perfect salty note (I’m a sucker for bacon and avocado anything) and the cheese added a nice bite to the burger and worked with the guacamole and the mayo added a nice creaminess and richness.  I’d order this again in a heart beat and have already a few times!

I washed my Californian Burger down with one of their hand pulled shakes.  Chocolate is my flavor of choice and this shake was really good.  You can tell they use real ice cream by the thickness of the shake and by the richness.

So out of the specialty 3 specialty burgers and sandwiches 2 were winners.  I’d definitely choose Fatburger over any other fast food burger choice out there.  I only paid out-of-pocket for the Californian Burger and shake and used the Groupon for the other 2 items.
