The Mangal Kiss Mid East BBQ cart is one of my favorites on the Vancouver Street Food scene and are my Street Food Friday post for featuring a couple of delish food selections that I have not yet blogged about.
First up and something that is perfect for summer is the Israeli Lemonata Soda that they make. Each one is made to order from homemade syrup, fresh lemons and cooling mint, I really love bruising the mint with my straw when I get one to really get the flavor impact. For around $2 bucks it’s one of the best ways to quench your thirst on a hot day.
Phyllis makes some delicious soups during the winter and spring. On this visit I had a yellow or golden lentil and saffron soup. Normally this would have been completely vegetarian but I gilded the Lilly with a freshly grilled lamb kebab. This was a rich and hearty soup, the lentils still had some texture to them and the lamb added a beautiful smokey flavor.
If you’re a soup lover you definitely have to check out Mangal Kiss Mid East BBQ for a bowl of delicious homemade soup, each bowl is also served with a nice big chunk of homemade challah bread that is to die for as well. I see since it’s summer they are offering desserts like coconut milk pudding with fresh date stuffed with walnuts and dipped in chocolate and toasted coconut, summer is turning out to be a delicious season even if it has had a late start.
