One of the newest food trucks to hit the Vancouver street food scene is PazzaRella Pizza, owned and operated by Anna and Sherry. Not only are they awesome lady’s but they also the distinction of being the first in Canada to have a completely self-contained wood fired pizza oven in the truck!

I first saw them at the Waldorf participating in the Yelp Food Cart Fest but I didn’t get to try them but I saw there delicious Margherita pizza’s all around the festival. While chatting with them, Anna said it best about their philosophy:
“PazzaRella uses the best imported and local ingredients we can source. We use Caputo flour imported from Naples, Italy and San Marzano tomatoes. We use locally made fior di latte, fresh mozzarella cheese with no preservatives. Our basil, oregano, and arugula are all organic.”
All I can say is these lady’s are passionate about putting out a great, authentic product and it’s clear with every pie they put out.

Each pizza is made to order, hand stretched and sauced with their delicious sauce and topped with fior de latte mozzarella then off to the oven. Their sauce a simple sauce that is uncooked so you get a fresh, bright tomato flavor-it’s just tomatoes and salt! With the oven at around 800 degrees the pizza is ready within 4-5 minutes.

The menu is simple and straight forward. The owners have been able to keep things affordable while still using only premium ingredients, the result is a winning combination that really is restaurant quality Neapolitan pizza.

I started with the classic Margherita for $7. With tomato Sauce, Fior di Latte, organic basil and extra virgin olive oil this pizza really is all about the ingredients.

The crust had that slight yeasty taste with a nice chew to it, the bottom had nice leoparding and was not soggy at all.

Next up is a Prosciutto & Arugula for $8. Again the ingredients are simple yet delicious-Prosciutto, Organic Arugula, Tomato Sauce, Fior di Latte and EVOO. I really enjoyed this, with the prosciutto on top it made the arugula stay on better. I’d definitely order this and the Margherita pizza again.
The PazzaRella Pizza truck is a welcome addition to the Vancouver Street Food scene and is a must visit if you’re a pizza fan and street food lover. They have a mobile license so you can find them in different parts of the city and at some farmers markets, I’d suggest following them on Twitter and also using the Eat St app or the Street Food app to find their daily location.
