Memphis Blues BBQ Goes Whole Hog

This is what I call a proper party meal, some delicious BBQ and all the fixings and were lucky enough to have Memphis Blues BBQ House to bring the authentic Southern favorites with some inventive twists and it’s all just a phone call away to their catering division!

The owners over at Memphis invited some of Vancouver’s finest people in the food scene including moi to get a sampling of what there catering side can do.  The crew pulled out all the stops and I must say they sure know the meaning of Southern hospitality.

One of the items that they do for events is a whole BBQ smoked hog that can feed a crowd, it’s something that I have never had and I was completely impressed with the whole hog experience.  They did up the traditional plates of pulled pork with sides of their amazing coleslaw, BBQ baked pit beans, potato salad and cornbread.

Pulled Pork Sliders

We weren’t just limited to the whole hog, they showed off some of their twists on small bites and canapés.  Memphis served up delicious Catfish Cakes that were garnished with a lemon gremolata, gyoza’s stuffed with awesome Memphis Pulled Pork and served with an apple slaw (both didn’t get photographed but were delicious).  The appetizers that I did manage to grab photos of were both great as well, the Beef Brisket Flautas with guacamole were crispy and packed with BBQ beef flavor and the Pulled Pork sliders served with the traditional Memphis sauce were a favorite at the table as well.

For dessert we were served up some Apple Brown Betty tarts as well as Pecan Pie tarts.  Both were pretty good but I will say my favorite was the pecan pie version.

The options offered to us were all delicious and something I’d recommend to anyone looking for something for a party or any event, Memphis Blues BBQ House can customize a menu to any size or budget, they also have gluten-free and vegetarian option available.  You can contact them directly at catering@memphisbluesbbq.com or call 778-919-5694.
