For this Street Food Friday segment I’m featuring some good old-fashioned comfort food from Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck. I’ve had more than grilled cheese sandwiches at Mom’s but usually there the create your own variety-pick your cheese, bread and any add on’s-a great treat on any day of the week.
After seeing “Mom’s Meatloaf Madness” on Sunday I knew I had to make a visit for the Monday special-Mom’s Meatloaf grilled Cheese.
This is what it’s all about, the meatloaf monstrosity has survived a petition to keep it on the menu (the making of the meatloaf is VERY labor intensive) and the public outcry managed to cement it on the menu on Monday’s. The sandwich is a messy beast that is smothered in delicious marinara sauce and surrounded by ooey and gooey mozzarella all on crunchy French bread. This has to be one of the best filled grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve had in my life. The sauce has a great tang to it that takes the meatloaf to another level on the flavor scale, it definitely has an Italian influence.
If you find yourself around Robson and Howe on a Monday afternoon I’d highly suggest a Mom’s Meatloaf Grilled Cheese sandwich and add a side of lot’s of napkins because you’ll need them!
