When I took part in the Tim Hortons Grilled Panini focus group we were shown a couple different menu board presentations that had pasta dishes available in addition to soups and chilli but the options we saw were tomato based sauces. Fast forward 8 months Tim Hortons have added Creamy Chicken Rotini to the menu. It’s described on the website and on the TV commercial as ” Our Creamy Chicken Rotini is made with a hint of Parmesan cheese, seasoned all-white meat, green peas and mushrooms in a delicious creamy sauce. Served with Garlic Toast.”. Sounds good on paper but whats it like in reality?
The one thing that I noticed right away was how hot temperature wise it was. Price wise it comes in at just under $5 for a regular size and $7 and change for a large, I ordered a large but should have gotten a small. The sauce was thick but not starchy and it made up the bulk of the dish. The pasta was completely over cooked as you would expect and I could have used more chicken and veggies in it. Flavor wise I was also expecting it to be on the salty side but it was actually pretty mild and the flavor of the Creamy Chicken Rotini reminded me of Chicken Al a King. The one thing that was missing was the Parmesan cheese flavor, I totally couldn’t taste it or pick it up after finishing the whole dish.
Overall I liked the new Creamy Chicken Rotini but it could have used some zip in the flavor department but I will give Tim Hortons credit for creating something with a comfort food feel.

Just had the creamy rotini, lacks flavor completely, looked like creamy of mushroom soup base, but no flavor of anything. Very dissappointed
I dug through a couple of spoonfuls of this and couldn’t find any chicken. Where’s the chicken?
And dead-on with Jxg255′s comment about the “cream of mushroom soup base”. No parmesan.
sounds like this won’t be on the Tim Hortons menu for very long
just tried the rotini chicken today. Not one piece of chicken could be found. I think they made the sauce with glue it was so thick. No taste what so ever.
Tried it today, this was one of THE worst fastfood dishes I’ve had. Follows Tim Horton’s trend of ZERO flavor, the sauce was so thick, it was like wet clay stuck on noodles. No chicken. Can someone please tell me how Michaelina’s microwavable lasagnas taste better?
It’s all in the salt, amazing how seasoning-even to much, still adds flavor
Ya, this stuff is awful — mine had hard boney pieces of chicken
