This week has been full of a lot of hot chocolate awesomeness so it was bound to happen that I’d hit a bump in the road. This visit on the hot chocolate tour takes place at Blenz Coffee and Tea’s Thurlow location and the lovely Food Gays also were in on the hot chocolate happenings.
I went with the Raspberry Beret, raspberry-infused white, milk, or dark Belgian hot chocolate served with a trio of Bittered Sling-infused meringue cookies by Kale & Nori Culinary Arts. When I took my first sip I was taken a back with the over use of the raspberry flavoring, it was similarly sweet like strawberry milk. The chocolate I went with was the dark but I’m unsure of the cacao percentage but it was still on the sweet side. I think what would have made this a winning drink was if they used a raspberry puree and a dark chocolate separately, it would have tasted more natural and worthy of the $8 price tag. The Bittered Sling infusions used in the cookies were really nice, I’ve had the pleasure of tasting them at the O5 Tea Bar in Kits and loved them.
The Food Gays had the Shirokuma, a white hot chocolate with Japanese matcha and also served with a trio of Bittered Sling-infused meringue cookies by Kale & Nori Culinary Arts. While a white chocolate and matcha hot chocolate is nice I can’t see why this one had to be $8 bucks and the boy’s agreed.

8 bucks? WTF?
